I had a friend send me an email about a month ago. I had spoken to her earlier that day and explained that I felt useless, and hopeless. My life was spinning out of control, and I didn't know how to put the breaks on. This is what she sent to me.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
I have been telling myself that God has a plan, and he doesn't want our lives to head toward failure. I keep thinking about this quote, and it has moved me so much........... Only God knows our life, but I had to rely on Him, put ALL my trust in Him, and let my personal "control" issues go. This transition was very difficult for me the first few days, but as I recited the verse to myself, it's become easier.
The best part of actually trusting God is the outcome!!!
More to come........

Dr Visit
I had a Dr's appointment yesterday. It was a GREAT visit. The doctor found a strong heart beat, and the baby was active. The baby kept moving and rolling around, making it hard for the doctor to keep the heartbeat on the monitor. But it was a wonderful visit. I'm always fearful of hearing the words "I can't find the heart beat" again. I've heard it from my doctor to many times, and I become very anxious before each appointment. I was awake at 2am yesterday, and couldn't fall back asleep because of nerves. Hearing the heartbeat at each appointment is a HUGE blessing in my life right now! My next appointment isn't until Dec 22nd, and I'll probably find out the sex at that appointment.
Yesterday, we also made Rigdon's hand print ornaments. Each year since Rigdon was 18 months, I've made hand print ornaments for the family. This year I was very sick in November, and got a LATE start on the ornaments. However, I got them completed yesterday, and this was the best one we've ever done. They are made of salt dough, and he enjoyed mashing his hand print into each one. It had to be the most enjoyable print ornament we've ever made. We had a lot of fun together, and the two of us enjoyed some quality time together.... Great memories were made.
Today is cooking making day. We will be busy making our Christmas cookies. First on the list is soynut butter buckeyes. Due to Rigdon's peanut allergy, we make our buckeyes out of soynut butter. It tastes very similar, and is safe for anyone allergic to peanuts. We have also made a gingerbread house. It's the first house I have EVER made. It was more challenging than I'd expected, but it came out cute!
This morning there is a beautiful sunrise outside. I had to get the camera out for that one too. There is a pretty pink glow filtering through the clouds. It reminded me to slow down and enjoy this holiday season. After all, it's not REALLY about the cookies, or the gingerbread houses... It's about the birth of baby Jesus. Thank you God for this beautiful day, and all days you've given us.
May you have a blessed day!

Christmas Times A'Comin
I can't believe I haven't updated in 6 months. I guess I didn't realize how the summer and fall slipped away, and that Christmas is upon us. Time flies when you're having fun!
I am excited to announce that our family is growing, and we will be having a new addition to the family in May of 2012. Rigdon will make a fantastic big brother, and we are all excited. This spring will hold a lot of changes. We'll be prepping a nursery, and getting ready for the new baby.
I have several projects I'm working on through home schooling, and as crafts. I am trying to finish up a batch of Senior pictures I took in October. I need to organize ALL of Rigdons photos into scrapbooks and photo albums before the new baby comes, and I am making a Jesse Tree and Gingerbread house with Rigdon as part of his homeschooling. They are WAY behind schedule too, and I don't know when we'll get them done. Hopefully soon!!! Not to mention I need to make gifts for the family, and hand ornaments, and about a dozen other things. I guess I should really be working on these items instead of updating my blog.... But sometimes a change is good!
May all of you have a blessed Christmas & Happy New Year!

Busy Days Ahead
Allergy season is upon us! The rains this spring offered a nice break for me. I enjoy a hot day, and lots of sunshine, but my nose goes into overdrive on these days. Oh well, I'll need to stock up on allergy meds.
We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend filled with ball games, wildlife, camping, swimming, and family time. But the best part was that the sun FINALLY came out, and we are finally feeling the warmth of spring.
As for our house, I'm busy preparing for Rigdons birthday party. We are planning a pirate theme per Rigdons request. Last year Mike and I had a scavenger hunt with him for fun. He enjoyed searching for treasure so much, that he wanted an entire party based around a treasure hunt. We have created a large pirate ship to put around his play set, made treasure maps so that EVERY child may go on a hunt for their personal treasure chest. I will be making pirate cake pops, and possibly a pirate face cake. Each child will get a costume that I made for them. Nothing fancy, but they get a stripped shirt, sash, bandanna, and eye patch. They will also get to make a bottle of floating fish and pirates...(water bottle with oil, water, glitter and foam pieces). This will be a party for Rigdon to remember!!!
Mike and I have been busy so busy preparing for the birthday festivities, Rigdon's preschool graduation has snuck up on us. I've made some very ugly, but tasty cake balls for his final day of class tomorrow. He will be graduating this Sunday, and beginning our home school Kindergarten journey in August. I can't believe how quickly it's approaching! I don't have any lesson plans ready yet. Although Abeka did most of the planning for me, I'd like to review it, and have an idea of how we will spend our days.
Well, I'm off to make dinner, and continue to be crafty for his party!

The Beginning
Today I am starting my journey as a blogger. I am not sure what I'll write about, or who will read my blog, but I've learned that several home school moms are bloggers. I guess I'm jumping on the band wagon, and joining the others. The fall of 2011 will be my first year as a home school mom. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach my son from our own home! I'm also scared to death!!! I have many insecurities, and fears about how I'll do. Knowing that his education and future rest solely on my teaching abilities, is a huge responsibility. I'll be saying a lot of prayers over the next few months.
What are your feelings about home schooling? I'd love to hear some feedback.
